Ann Turkel, who was married with Richard Harris for eight years prior to her divorce 20 years ago, is still trying to come to terms with the loss of Richard Harris. Ann is a native of New York and raised on the Upper West Side in Manhattan and has always displayed a talent for entertainment. Ann began dancing when she was five and continued to pursue her art studies all through the college. Her grandmother is the one she credits for encouraging her artistic activities. Ann was a student of dance, acting as well as voice during her early years. Ann aged sixteen, was enrolled at both the Neighborhood Playhouse (formerly the Musical Theatre Academy) and at the Musical Theatre Academy under some top acting instructors that were in the city. They were Sandy Meisner & Philip Burton. When she was in high school, Ann began singing together with her fellow students and formed the rock and roll group. Also, she performed in a season of summer stock theatre at the Berkshire Playhouse in Stockbridge, Massachusetts with plays such as The Pajama Game" and West Side Story. Ann's show with her band in fashion events was the first time Gloria Schiff, editor of Vogue Magazine, discovered Ann. Diana Vreeland, the editor in chief at Vogue Magazine, requested Ann take her picture for her debut Vogue magazine cover in only several days. Ann later became one of the top models across the United States, appearing on covers for the biggest fashion magazines. These included Vogue Bazaar as well Cosmopolitan. Ann began her international career in Europe and Japan after modeling on behalf of Max Factor Revlon.
